Jaguars Fall to San Francisco in Home Battle, 48–6

SAN JOSÉ — Despite a determined effort at Jaguar Stadium, San José City College couldn't contain a high-powered San Francisco offense on Saturday night, falling 48–6 in National Bay 6 Conference play.

The visiting Rams struck early and often, jumping out to a 28–0 halftime lead before cruising to their fourth win of the season. The loss drops the Jaguars to 1–5 overall and 0–1 in conference.

San Francisco quarterback Darius Clark-James led the way, throwing for 328 yards and two touchdowns while completing 21 of 28 passes. Wide receiver Jeremiah Nash proved nearly unstoppable, catching six passes for 165 yards and two scores.

The Rams wasted little time getting on the board. Running back Michael Dabney capped a short 26-yard drive with an 8-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. Less than three minutes later, defensive back Sonny Vitaleintercepted a pass and returned it 55 yards to make it 14-0.

San Francisco kept the pressure on in the second quarter. JT Foreman punched in a 1-yard score to extend the lead, and Nash hauled in a 33-yard strike from Clark-James just before halftime to make it 28-0.

San José City struggled to find rhythm early, managing only 72 yards rushing and 124 through the air against a relentless Rams defense that forced four interceptions and registered five sacks.

Still, the Jaguars showed grit in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Gage Houser engineered SJCC's lone scoring drive—a 77-yard march capped by a 10-yard touchdown pass to Zach Pallach. The two-point conversion attempt by Talisa Talisawas stopped short, leaving the score 35-6 with 11:11 left to play.

San Francisco answered quickly, with backup quarterback Fox Hogan connecting with Tyler Cross on a 22-yard touchdown pass. A late 1-yard run by Donte Johnson sealed the final margin.

SJCC rotated three quarterbacks as they tried to jumpstart the offense. Cedeno Chavez led with 70 passing yards, while Houser went 6-of-9 for 51 yards and the team's only touchdown. Joey Campanga added 3 yards on limited attempts.

Running back Joey Fussell Jr. paced the ground game with 44 yards on 14 carries, and Jaalen Mhoon led SJCC receivers with 45 yards on three catches.

Defensively, linebacker Joshua Reyes tallied nine tackles, while Shamar Matthews added eight. The Jaguars recorded one sack by Tevita Pekipaki, who also forced a fumble.

San Francisco finished with 598 total yards to San José's 196, converting 42 percent of its third downs. SJCC controlled possession slightly longer at 31:54 but couldn't capitalize on opportunities, going 0-for-1 on fourth down and committing four turnovers.

The Jaguars will look to regroup next week as they continue conference play. Despite the tough loss, the young roster continues to show flashes of growth and resilience—qualities they'll need as they prepare for a demanding second half of the season.

San Francisco improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in league play, while San José City will seek to rebound and defend home turf as the season enters its final stretch.
