Jaguars Extend Win Streak to 13, Rout Gavilan 103–43 Behind Royster’s Big Night
SAN JOSE, Calif. — San José City College keeps stacking wins, and doing it in emphatic fashion.
The Jaguars delivered one of their most complete performances of the season Friday night, shooting a scorching 64 percent from the field and overwhelming Gavilan College 103–43 to stretch their winning streak to 13 games.
From the opening possession, San Jose played with pace and purpose. Crisp ball movement led to open looks, the defense forced tough shots, and the Jaguars steadily built a lead that only grew larger as the night wore on.
By halftime, San Jose was in control, 48–25. The second half turned into a showcase.
Taj Royster anchored the effort with a near-perfect shooting night, scoring 22 points on 11-of-12 from the floor while pulling down 10 rebounds for a double-double. The sophomore forward dominated the paint early, finishing through contact and cleaning the glass.
Will Hutcheon matched Royster's physical presence inside, adding 14 points and 10 rebounds of his own. Guards Ryan Baker and Jeremiah Butler stretched the defense, with Baker knocking down four 3-pointers on the way to 16 points.
But the Jaguars' unselfishness defined the game as much as the scoring.
San Jose recorded 34 assists on 45 made baskets, repeatedly turning extra passes into layups. Dylan Galvan orchestrated the offense with 13 assists, slicing into the lane and finding teammates in stride, while Shaine Johnson added seven more off the bench.
The depth showed everywhere. Savion Daniels poured in 16 points and grabbed seven boards in reserve minutes, and the Jaguars' second unit kept the pressure on long after the outcome was decided.
Defensively, San Jose clamped down. Gavilan shot just 31 percent overall and 27.6 percent from 3-point range, managing only 18 second-half points. Chance Duffey led the Rams with 11 points, and Myron Stamps added nine, but consistent scoring proved elusive against the Jaguars' length and energy.
By the final buzzer, the numbers told the story: a 49–12 rebounding edge, 12 steals, just 11 turnovers, and the first 100-point game of the season.
More importantly, it marked win No. 13 in a row for a Jaguars squad that continues to roll through conference play with confidence and chemistry.
If Friday night was any indication, San Jose is not just winning. It is peaking at the right time.
