Royster Dominates as Jaguars Top Cabrillo 78–68 on the Road
APTOS, Calif. — When the game tightened, San José City College leaned on its anchor in the paint.
Taj Royster delivered a dominant performance Friday night, pouring in 25 points and pulling down 25 rebounds to power the Jaguars past Cabrillo College 78–68 in conference play.
Royster's 25 boards — including 11 on the offensive glass-fueled second-chance opportunities all evening helped San José control the tempo. The sophomore forward also added four blocks and three steals in one of his most complete outings of the season.
San José built a 42–36 halftime lead behind steady free-throw shooting and interior toughness, then maintained control in the second half despite a push from Cabrillo.
The Jaguars shot just 38.8 percent from the field and struggled from 3-point range (2 of 12), but compensated by attacking the rim and converting at the line. San José finished 24 of 31 from the free-throw stripe - a decisive edge in a physical contest.
Jeremiah Butler, Muhammad Singleton, and Ryan Baker each scored 10 points, while Dylan Galvan added nine points and five assists. Savion Daniels contributed nine points and eight rebounds off the bench as the Jaguars held a 44–34 rebounding advantage.
Cabrillo was led by Mike Carson's 21 points and Ben Dotten's 14 off the bench. Charlie Kosta added 11 points, but the Seahawks could not overcome 17 turnovers and Royster's dominance inside.
San José forced 17 Cabrillo turnovers and turned defensive pressure into timely scoring runs. The Jaguars also recorded 12 steals and five blocks as a team, setting the tone defensively throughout the night.
Despite Cabrillo shooting 41.7 percent from the field, the Jaguars' work on the glass and at the free-throw line proved decisive.
With the road win, San José continues to assert itself in conference play, powered by a commanding interior presence and balanced contributions across the roster.
