Awards, Records and a Championship: The Jaguars' Season is One for the Books
SAN JOSE, Calif. — San José City College has made its presence felt in the Coast Conference South Division this season, with several players from the men's basketball program ranking among the league's top individual performers.
Forward Taj Royster has emerged as one of the most efficient and productive players in the Coast-South. Royster leads the division in both rebounding, pulling down 9.9 boards per game, and field goal percentage, converting at a remarkable 65.1 percent clip through 28 games. He also ranks fourth in scoring at 14.1 points per game and third in blocked shots with 39, making him the Jaguars' anchor on both ends of the floor.
At the free throw line, San José City's Ryan Baker has been nearly automatic, leading the Coast-South with an 86.5 percent mark through 28 games. Teammate Muhammad Singleton also ranks third in the category at 77.5 percent through 26 contests, giving the Jaguars two of the conference's most reliable foul shooters.
Guard Jremiah Butler contributes from beyond the arc, ranking third in three-point percentage at 39.2 percent through 28 games, providing the Jaguars with a reliable outside threat to complement Royster's interior presence.
In the playmaking department, Dylan Galvan leads the entire Coast-South in assists, dishing out 137 through 28 games to direct San José City's offense.
The individual performances have added up to team glory. San José City College claimed the 2026 Coast Conference South Division championship outright, capping a standout season with a slate of postseason honors to match.
Coach Devin Aye was named Coast South Conference Coach of the Year, earning recognition for guiding the Jaguars to the top of the division. Butler was named the conference's Most Valuable Player, while Royster earned a double honor — Coast South Conference Freshman Player of the Year and a spot on the All-Conference First Team.
Savion Daniels earned First Team All-Conference honors as well and was also named to the All-Defense Team. Galvan was recognized on the Second Team and the All-Freshman Team, while Singleton joined him on both the All-Freshman and All-Defense teams. Baker rounded out the Jaguars' accolades with an All-Freshman Team selection.
As conference champions, the Jaguars earned a first-round bye in the 3C2A Northern California Regional playoffs and will host Feather River College in the second round Saturday at SJCC's Percy Carr Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
