Butler, Royster power San José City College past De Anza 101–84
CUPERTINO, Calif. — Jeremiah Butler and Taj Royster each scored 25 points as San José City College rolled past De Anza College 101–84 on Saturday afternoon.
San José set the tone early, shooting nearly 60 percent from the field and building a 55–41 halftime lead. The Jaguars continued to press the advantage after the break, outscoring De Anza 46–43 in the second half to pull away for the 17-point win.
Royster was dominant inside, going 12 of 16 from the field while adding 10 rebounds and three blocks. Butler was equally efficient, hitting 10 of 13 shots and knocking down four 3-pointers to go with six rebounds. Dylan Galvan orchestrated the offense with 12 assists and added 15 points, while Ryan Baker chipped in 11 and Muhammad Singleton scored 10.
San José finished the game 40 of 67 from the field (59.7 percent) and 14 of 26 from beyond the arc.
De Anza was led by Gio Brovelli, who scored 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting and was a perfect 5 of 5 from 3-point range. Mehki Thomas added 18 points and five assists, and Theo McDowell finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Despite solid scoring from its starters, De Anza struggled to keep pace defensively, allowing 25 assists and 41 total rebounds. The Dons shot 46.6 percent overall but were outmatched by San José’s efficiency and depth.
The game was played at De Anza College, with one technical foul assessed to San José’s Butler.
