Sierra Completes Doubleheader Sweep with 12-0 Win Over of San José
ROCKLIN, Calif. - Ciana Lagier homered and drove in six runs as Sierra College rolled to a 12-0 victory over San José City College in five innings in the second game of a Coast Conference softball doubleheader Friday.
Lagier went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double to power the Wolverines' 11-hit attack. Taylor Fitzgerald added two hits and an RBI for Sierra, which scored in four of the five innings.
Iris Perez threw a five-inning no-hitter for the Wolverines, walking one and striking out three. San José managed just one baserunner, as Ciara Donahoe drew a walk but was caught stealing.
Sierra (2-0) broke the game open early, scoring three runs in the first inning and four more in the second to take a 7-0 lead. The Wolverines added five insurance runs in the fourth inning to invoke the mercy rule.
Briana Parker, Hannah Jernigan, and Ashlyn Leighton each collected one hit for Sierra. Leighton drove in two runs with a double and a sacrifice fly, while Ella Osborne and Cass Craig added one RBI apiece.
San José (2-3) used four pitchers in the nightcap. Maya Medina took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. Alia Casarez pitched two innings of relief, surrendering four runs on four hits.
The Jaguars committed two errors in the defeat and failed to record a hit for the first time this season.
