San José City College Rides Fast Start and Interior Strength to 85–74 Win Over Foothill
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Taj Royster posted a dominant double-double and San José City College built an early cushion it never surrendered, defeating Foothill 85–74 on Wednesday night at SJCC.
Royster finished with 15 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks, anchoring the Jaguars on both ends of the floor. San José jumped out to a 42–29 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and strong work on the glass, then matched Foothill score for score in the second half to secure the home victory.
Jeremiah Butler led the Jaguars in scoring with 16 points, adding six rebounds and five assists. Dylan Galvan chipped in 15 points and three assists, while Ryan Baker knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 11 points in just 20 minutes. Muhammad Singleton rounded out the balanced effort with nine points and five assists.
San José shot 52.6% from the field and moved the ball effectively, recording 20 assists on 30 made baskets. The Jaguars also controlled the paint, outrebounding Foothill 39–27 and turning defensive stops into transition opportunities.
Foothill made a push after halftime, scoring 45 points in the second half to cut into the margin, but San José answered each run with timely baskets and steady play at the free-throw line. The Jaguars went to the stripe frequently and used their depth to maintain composure down the stretch.
Savion Daniels added six points off the bench, while Armon Naweed provided a spark with seven points and two assists as San José leaned on its rotation to close out the game.
The win continues a strong stretch for the Jaguars, who combined physical interior play with balanced scoring to protect their home court.
