San José City College completes sweep with six-run surge, tops Reedley 9–1
Jaguars break open tight game late to finish dominant doubleheader Saturday
SAN JOSE, Calif. — After grinding through a close game for five innings, San José City College made sure there would be no late drama this time.
The Jaguars erupted for five runs in the sixth inning to blow open a tight contest and defeat Reedley 9–1 in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, completing a convincing sweep on their home field.
Clinging to a 4–1 lead, San José strung together patient at-bats, timely doubles, and aggressive baserunning to put the nightcap away. Seven walks and a pair of Reedley errors helped fuel the decisive rally as the Jaguars sent nine batters to the plate.
Chevelle Quistian set the tone from the top of the lineup, going 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs, and a stolen base. Jaelynn Corona added two hits and scored twice, while Angelina Castro drove in two with a sharp double to the gap.
Shelby Apostolo reached base three times and crossed the plate twice as San José turned limited hits into maximum damage.
"We just kept passing the bat," one Jaguar player said afterward. "Once we got traffic, everyone stayed calm."
San José jumped ahead early with two runs in the first, then padded the lead in the fourth before Reedley briefly cut it to 4–1 on an RBI double by Angelina Castellanos in the fifth.
That was as close as it would get.
The Jaguars answered immediately in the sixth. Quistian drove in a pair, Castro added two more, and Corona capped the burst with an RBI single as the dugout buzzed with each run that crossed.
In the circle, Priyah Quinonez delivered another steady start, allowing one run on six hits over four innings to earn the win. Makenna Sieling closed the final two frames, surrendering just one hit to keep Reedley quiet.
Reedley collected seven hits but managed only one extra-base knock and stranded runners throughout the afternoon.
San José finished with seven hits, drew seven walks, and played clean defense behind its pitchers.
The victory capped a productive day for the Jaguars, who outscored Reedley 17–2 across both games and controlled the pace from first pitch to final out.
For a team building early-season rhythm, Saturday looked like a blueprint: sharp pitching, pressure offense, and timely execution when it mattered most.
